My second home

I've been home for a whole week; clearly it's time to hit the road!

I know! How about New York?! It's been at least 2 weeks since my last visit. (That visit technically doesn't count since it was an emergency visit thrown together at the last minute. For six months we had been trying to get up there to see Mike Birbiglia's show. The end was near, so we dropped everything and ran. Then Mike had nerve to go ahead and extend it through June but I already had the tickets, so we just had no choice but to abandon our families.)

Sunday morning I leave with a gaggle of friends on everyone's favorite discount bus. This time I will come prepared with long underwear, mittens and perhaps an illegal portable heater that runs on bitterness and sarcasm. Last time even the handwarmers stuffed in my bra couldn't save me. (Not joking. I found one still there about 16 hours after arriving home.)

It's our monthly night out with our moms group. Don't you wish I was your social coordinator?? We are going to see Jon and Stephen on Monday night.

Sunday we're going to see Avenue Q. I will try my best not to sing along, even though I know every word to every song. (Don't you dare test me. I will sing them in order and with all the voices and then you will be sorry.)

The rest of the time I will most likely amuse myself with my two favorite NYC pasttimes - walking around aimlessly and eating. I am endlessly amused by all the eateries in NYC, especially the ones that specialize in one very specific kind of food. I've been in some places that only have ONE item on the menu. My favorite - FRIES. Yum. Want anything else? Too bad. Walk across town and have a cream puff.

When I went to NYC for the first time without Barry I brought home 14 9 of the tastiest bagels you will ever eat. On my last trip with NG we went to a place that had peanut butter in almost every menu item.

I forget the name of this delicious sundae. It was probably something like "kiss your arteries good-bye." It was vanilla ice-cream - lame, should have been PB flavored! - with peanut butter, pb cap'n crunch, reeses pieces, pb chips and whipped cream.

We sought out another place just for the falafel.

Come on in and sit awhile. There's tons of room to move around!

Yep, pretty much we spent our entire afternoon walking around in search of food. Luckily we walked over 5 miles that day and could still button our pants when we got on the bus home.....I said could. I didn't say we did.

You sure you don't wanna have that reprinted?

If you know of any delicious dining spots in NYC, please leave me a comment before Sunday. I especially enjoy those that feature one random item that you almost never would eat in normal, every day existence. A little crazier than donuts, though they do look delicious. I'm thinking cupcakes, but there are so many to choose from I just don't know where to begin.

I'm so excited about our trip! I have a little folder right next to me with show info, bus info, general directions to get places . . . until you arrive and then I will follow you around like a sheep.
I'm *sure* the people on the bus on your ride up would love for you to sing all the songs from Ave. Q!
Wait, I should bring long underware??

Oh man... I forgot about the Smooties! We must go back there. I'm sure that they're better than Smoothies.
